Elegant Cornish Spring Wedding at Launcells Barton

Wedding Photography at Launcells Barton

There’s something undeniably magical about a spring wedding in the Cornish countryside—and Tom and Jenny’s day at Launcells Barton was exactly that: magical. With May blooms, heartfelt vows at St Swithin’s church and a beautifully restored reception venue as their backdrop, this wedding had all the warmth and laughter a couple could hope for! Let’s take a closer look at their unforgettable celebration - photographed by us, Bristol based wedding photographers, Dave and Hannah.

Venue

Set on an old dairy farm and private estate just outside Bude, Launcells Barton offers a blend of rustic charm and classic elegance that’s hard to beat. From its historic manor house to the beautifully converted barns, lovingly restored by the owners, it offered plenty of space for outside fun and inside partying. Chrissie, the on-site coordinator, made the day run smoothly and was on top of everything - she truly had thought of every little detail!

Tom and Jenny held their ceremony at St Swithin’s church, just a short walk through wild flowers from the Manor House, it’s an intimate church with a lot of history. Interestingly, the churchyard has been allowed to become a wildflower haven, making for a beautiful entrance to the church. The celebrations continued with confetti outside the Manor House, drinks on the lawn and dinner in the barn reception space. Every inch of the venue offered perfect photo opportunities and set the tone for a warm, relaxed, wedding day with lots of laughter.

Hair

Bridal hair plait with wild flowers by Bristol wedding photographers

Jenny’s hairstyle was a gorgeous mix of natural and polished. Hair By Victoria styled her hair into a plait, with face framing loose tendrils - a perfect choice for Jenny’s thick hair and both the ceremony and the evening’s dance floor! Woven into her thick, dark hair were flowers matched to the decor, creating a soft, fairy-tale look reminiscent of Rapunzel.

The bridesmaids wore similarly romantic styles, with soft waves and real flowers creating a beautifully cohesive bridal party look.

Make-Up

For makeup, Jenny wanted something timeless and glowing, and Carly Angove Makeup delivered just that—a radiant complexion, blush-toned lips , and a  soft definition around the eyes that made her blue eyes pop in photos without overpowering her natural beauty. Her makeup not only looked beautiful in every photograph,  it looked flawless in person even after shedding a few happy tears and into the evening.

Flowers

When we met with Tom and Jenny at Launcells Barton the day before their wedding, we had the pleasure to meet the talented Emma at Brompton Buds and, oh my, were we taken aback by the stunning array of flowers she was setting up - even giving Jenny some tears of joy! From the bouquet to the arch and chandelier they were the kind that make you pause, featuring a blend of soft pastels and spring textures—think garden roses, ranunculus, and trailing greenery matching the elegance of the surroundings.

The couple’s love of animals was apparent with each table being named after their beloved cats past and present whilst being adorned with similarly styled blooms, adding personal charm and cohesion to the overall design.

Cake

Guests were treated to a showstopper of a cake thanks to DollyBird Bakes. Hayley created a three-tiered confection featuring delicate floral accents to match, perfectly straight edges along with beautifully smooth, classic white frosting and multiple flavours - not only was it a visual delight, but it tasted incredible too! The DollyBird Bakes website and social media is an absolute gem to follow as we both love a good cake and her decorating and attention to detail is flawless.

As the sun began to set, Matthew - one of Launcells Barton's owners - kindly whisked the newlyweds away by tractor to a nearby field with breathtaking views of the sea and the golden sky. A peaceful and truly unforgettable end to an extraordinary day.
